SkillsUSA State Champions Announced

WSWHE BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) and the Early College Career Academy (ECCA) students participated in the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Championships from April 24 to 26, 2024 in Syracuse, NY at the NYS Fairgrounds. Thousands of students were in attendance. WSWHE BOCES students returned with Champion titles in their respective fields.

First place winners were Maddalena Spada (Customer Service category) from South Glens Falls (who will be moving on to Nationals) and Ayden Greenway (Food Preparation Assistant Basic, NYS only) from Saratoga Springs. 

WSWHE BOCES & ECCA Students received second place awards in the following categories: Restaurant Service, Nurse Assisting, Esthetics, Plumbing and Entrepreneurship, respectively.

Third place awards were given to students in the categories of CNC 3-Axis Milling Programmer, Heavy Equipment, Culinary Arts, Cosmetology Quiz Bowl, Community Service and American Spirit. 

Students Charity Lupo (Johnsburg) and Charlie Stidd (S. Glens Falls) were elected as the 2024-2025 NYS SkillsUSA State Officers.

Center Awards
The WSWHE BOCES centers also won awards. The F. Donald Myers Center Achieved Chapter Excellence Quality Chapter and the Southern Adirondack Education Center Achieved Chapter Excellence Gold Distinction. 

Instructor Awards
ECCA Business and Entrepreneurship Instructor and ECCA SkillsUSA Advisor, Brandon Aldous received the Area 3 Advisor of the year recognition and was a Finalist for NYS Advisor of the year.

WSWHE BOCES Southern Adirondack Education Instructor, Nick Zwart received the SkillsUSA Hall of Champion Award and will be recognized at Nationals in June.
