ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS

Adult GED Classes – Our GED classes are in session year round.  Students enter after taking our monthly orientation and stay as long as they need to in order to prepare for the GED.  The amount of  time required for them to finish depends on what their reading and math levels are and also on how much time they can devote to homework. Once the teacher believes that they are ready, the students  are referred to the test. Classes are friendly and very low pressure and all students are respected as adults.

Currently we are running five different classes at four locations:

Glens Falls (21 Bay St.)
          – Day Class – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 – 12:00
          – Night Class – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00 – 8:00

Saratoga (27 Gick Rd.)
          – Night Class – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00 – 8:00

Saratoga (William S. Ford Community Center, 37 East Fenlon St.)
–Day Class - Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:00-1:00

North Creek (North Country Outreach Center)
         – Night Class – Two Mondays per month, 6:00 - 8:00

Home Study for Adults – Home Study may be an excellent option for students who have difficulty  coming to class. Our home study programs (GRASP and REACH) serve students ages 21 and older who have qualifying reading levels. Students pick up packets of GED work to complete at home.  Six hours of work at home every week is required.  Work packets are exchanged every two weeks until students are ready for the GED test.  Students may also choose to attend classes occasionally to get extra help if they are struggling with something on their own.

How to Sign Up – In order to join our programs, students must complete a two-session orientation (three hours per session) that is offered usually once a month.  At this orientation students will learn   about the GED test, about how our programs work, what their reading and math levels are, and what  will be required of them to be ready to take the GED test. After orientation students will be invited to join the program.

Cost – Students may check out our program at the orientation for free. If students decide to join, there is a one-time registration fee of $25. After this fee is paid, students may stay in the program for as long as they need to, and all the study materials are provided for them.
