New Visions
Programs
New Visions programs are
academically rigorous courses for college-bound high school
seniors who plan to major in the following
disciplines: Engineering, Health/Medicine, and Theatre
Arts. New Visions programs provide students with a
competitive edge when applying for college admissions
because their advanced studies include work experience
alongside industry professionals in a variety of
disciplines.
Engineering
New
Visions Engineering is a one-year program that
combines calculus and physics with instruction in
engineering principles. Progressing through
rotations, students observe and participate in
practical field work. Lab experiments are
conducted at Adirondack Community College;
rotations occur at engineering sites.
Health Careers Explorations
New Visions
Health Careers Exploration is a one-year program
in which students
learn and work in a hospital setting alongside
physicians, physician assistants, and physical
therapists. Students receive classroom instruction
two days per week and attend clinical rotations in
a variety of health professions three days per
week. New Visions Health Careers Explorations is
located in Wesley Health Care Center and Glens
Falls Hospital. Rotations occur at both these
facilities and at private practices and clinics
throughout the Saratoga and Glens Falls areas.
Theatre Arts
New Visions
Theatre Arts is a one-year program that integrates
the core courses thematically through the
discipline of theatre, both classical and
contemporary forms. High school seniors gain
experience and knowledge in the performance,
design, and technical areas of theatre while
working with professional directors, designers,
actors, technicians, and producers. New Visions
Theatre Arts is located in the Black Box Studio at
the F. Donald Myers Education Center.
