Library Talk Listserv Instructions

The Library Talk Listserv is a means of communication between member libraries and the School Library System.  Common uses are for interlibrary loan requests and sharing of information.  Please see below for instructions on how to use the list.

HOW TO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE LISTSERV

To send a message to all LIBRARY TALK subscribers, send your message to LIBRARY-TALK@LISTSERV.WSWHEBOCES.ORG . Mail sent to the WSWHE BOCES computer distributes the message to everyone who is subscribed to LIBRARY-TALK address. Include a descriptive subject line in your messages. Keep messages to only one subject, if possible.

HOW TO RESPOND TO MESSAGES

You have two options for responding to LIBRARY-TALK messages --

• (1)   Private mail to an individual: If you want your response to go only to the person who posted the message then just hit reply and you will notice that the sender’s address is in the “To” box.
  
• (2) Mail to the whole group: If you want your response to go to all listserv subscribers, send your message to LIBRARY-TALK@LISTSERV.WSWHEBOCES.ORG 

HOW TO LEAVE THE LIST

To leave the list, send a message to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.WSWHEBOCES.ORG with the message SIGNOFF LIBRARY-TALK.   Leave the subject line blank. Any such message sent to that address goes only to the WSWHE BOCES computer and the listowner. 

There are other commands for LISTSERV@LISTSERV.WSWHEBOCES.ORG but for a list this small they are not yet necessary.  If you have any problems or want to signoff and need help, please contact me.

USE OF LIBRARY-TALK 

LIBRARY-TALK is an un-moderated list. The WSWHE BOCES computer will post your messages automatically. Messages you post should relate to local, state or national library or education news, interlibrary loan, and/or professional requests for information or advice.  Courtesy among subscribers is assumed.  Content is not limited to this but should always pertain to the majority of the subscribers.  Personal messages should be sent to individual addresses, which are located at: http://www.wswheboces.org/sls/namedirectory.htm

Contributions to the LIBRARY-TALK list represent individual opinions only and cannot be interpreted as official advice by the sponsoring organization, WSWHE BOCES School Library System. The sponsoring organization does not claim any responsibility for the content of messages displayed on the list, nor can they guarantee the accuracy of messages appearing on LIBRARY-TALK listserv.
