The mission of the Model Schools Program is to support
and assist school districts with the effective integration
of technology with instruction to help all students achieve
success. The program provides a process for a comprehensive
and systemic approach to technology acquisition in
partnership with the Learning Technology Service. The
outcome is sustained professional development that is
aligned with the NYS Learning Standards and National
Education Teaching Standards. Training and collaborative
work groups provide teachers and administrators the
opportunity to effectively use technologies to improve
student learning.
Member districts may participate in both regional and
customized on-site workshops. Membership includes
shared regional technology training, facilitated planning,
collaborative work groups, statewide Peer Review, and
assistance with a technology educational plan to promote
effective integration of resources across all content areas.
Costs for training, including reimbursement for substitute
teachers, and stipends for workshop facilitators are
eligible for BOCES aid.
