The District Superintendent of Schools for WSWHE BOCES serves as both the Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services and Regional Representative to the New York State Commissioner of Education.

Under Education Law, the District Superintendent plans, administers and supervises area-wide educational programs and support services at the request of component school districts. The District Superintendent is available to consult with school districts on a variety of educational issues, calling upon the resources the State Education Department and its professional staff.

As the local representative of the Commissioner of Education, the District Superintendent is responsible for providing leadership with Washington, Saratoga, Warren, Hamilton and Essex counties of upstate New York. In this capacity, the District Superintendent is often called upon to interpret and assist in the implementation of New York State Education Law and the rules and regulations of the Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education.
