Test Accommodations
The purpose of testing
accommodations
is to enable students with disabilities to participate
in assessment programs on an equal basis with their
nondisabled peers. The decision to provide test
accommodations must be based upon the student’s
individual strengths and needs as documented on their
IEP or 504 plan.
The following
students may be eligible to receive testing
accommodations:
·
students
who have been classified by the CSE or CPSE;
·
students
who are declassified by the CSE;
·
students
who have been identified as having a disability under
Section 504; and
·
students who incur disabilities shortly
before administration of a State or districtwide test
Implementation and
Training Responsibilities:
The
school district must ensure that each general education
teacher, special education teacher, related service
provider and/or other service provider working with a
student with a disability is informed of their
responsibilities for implementing the IEP, including the
responsibility to provide test accommodations. The
principal is responsible for ensuring that testing
accommodations are fully, consistently and appropriately
implemented. All those responsible for developing and
implementing the student’s IEP/504 Plan should
participate in staff development activities on test
accommodations.
