The
Horizons Adolescent Day Treatment Program provides a blend
of behavioral health clinical interventions, in combination
with Special Education instruction for seriously emotionally
disturbed (SED) adolescents.
Horizons
is jointly operated by the Capital district Psychiatric
Center (CDPC) and the
Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex Boces in
cooperation with the Warren, Washington and Saratoga
Counties departments of Mental Health.
Horizons
provides a level of behavioral health treatment and special
education which is intermediate between psychiatric
hospitalization or residential care, and clinic-office
treatment and special education classes in public school.
Horizons
provides a "therapeutic" environment within a
public school setting; serving, at any given time, a
maximum of eighteen adolescents. The program operates
year round, with eleven months as the average length of
treatment for an adolescent.
Horizons
enables seriously emotionally disturbed adolescents to
remain in the least restrictive, most stable, and normative
living situation possible, while receiving treatment and
special education and "related services" from a
team of multi-disciplinary mental health and education
professionals.
