WSWHE BOCES Learning Technology Service in partnership with
the Model School Program
promotes
the successful implementation of the New York State Learning
Standards, which have been adopted by the region as the
Common Learning Objectives. The aim of the two programs is
to further the integration of instructional technology into
the curriculum to support student achievement in all
standards areas.
The Learning Technology Service provides school districts
with assistance in technology planning and
implementation, equipment acquisition, data transport,
technology management and network administration. A
regional Help Desk
provides 23 School districts with assistance and tracking of
technology related hardware and software issues.
A Wide Area Network interconnects 14 school district area
networks (DANs), their local area networks (LANs) and the
BOCES. The
network infrastructure varies from point to point T-1 lines
to ATM-DS 3 connections.
Participating districts include: Argyle, Bolton,
Corinth, Fort Edward, Galway, Granville, Greenwich, Hadley-Luzerne,
Johnsburg, Mechanicville, Newcomb, Schuylerville, South
Glens Falls, Stillwater, Warrensburg, Waterford-Halfmoon and
the WSWHE BOCES centers.
The Shared LAN Technician
Service assists districts with the operation
and maintenance of their Local Area Networks.
A Technical Advisory Group (TAG) composed of school
district technologists, advises the BOCES on the development
of technology initiatives in the region. The committee meets monthly throughout the school
year.
