Students from the Exceptional Learners Division Regents, School To Work, TSP and middle school programs at the F. Donald Myers Education Center were invited to the Google Meet with the author. English Language Arts Teacher Georianna Bull said, "my students asked very good questions about how she started writing, how to get published, where she gets her inspiration. She focused on 'voice' in a story. Something all my students are very familiar with as we read to learn and understand differing perspectives as we read."
The students listened to an excerpt from Spero's book, "Boy On Hold." The author spoke about how a child's point of view differs from an adult's within the same storyline. She also spoke of the importance of the editing process and how sometimes it takes years to get a story to publication.
