PTECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) is a unique six-year program that gives high school students the experiences, practical skills, qualifications and credentials they need to secure rewarding careers in technology-based industries. Students sign up in eighth grade and complete the program after their second year in college.
The celebration honored the perseverance, commitment and drive of the students to complete this program which takes focus and ambition to stay the course. Instructors congratulated the students, told stories about how much they’ve grown and commended them for the amazing effort they put into their lives.
Members of the board and Administration joined the celebration to hear the congratulations and also hear the students tell the group where they are going next; additional college, careers, internships and more.
The Southern Adirondack PTECH is a partnership between a component district high school, WSWHE BOCES, SUNY Adirondack and many local industries. PTECH students are incoming ninth graders who, in parallel, earn a Regents high school diploma and an associate degree from SUNY Adirondack at no cost to the student or their family. Two pathways are offered: Advanced Manufacturing or Information Technology: Computer Networking and Cybersecurity.
