More than 60 people were in attendance including graduates, family, friends, WSWHE BOCES administrators, board members, staff and instructors.
Student speaker, Lauren Winslow, spoke to her classmates and the audience about persevering through any struggles along the way.
“There are going to be obstacles our whole lives, and as Theodore Roosevelt once said, ‘Believe you can and you’re halfway there.’ The only one that can keep you from bettering your future is yourself, so believe in your skills and your work ethic - they will take you far. Thank you all. Here’s to bright futures!” said Winslow.
Many students have future plans that include working, college or further studies to earn certificates and credentials in the field they want to build a career in.
District Superintendent, Dr. Turina Parker, spoke to the class congratulating their accomplishments and perseverance.
“You’ve developed a mindset of resilience and forward-thinking. You’ve learned to overcome obstacles, to push through when things get tough, and to stay focused on a goal. These are the qualities that will serve you well in your career and in life. With the drive and determination you’ve shown, there’s no doubt you’ll find your way and make your mark.” stated Dr. Parker.
The WSWHE BOCES High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation Program offers students pathways to earn their high school equivalency diploma. Students learn at their own pace from as little as a few months to years. Individual attention is given to students to prepare them for the GED exam. HSE helps encourage and motivate adult learners to obtain the education they need to take the exam and earn their diploma.
