On March 13, 2023, more than 475 students on 65 teams from 18 local school districts competed in the 2023 “Battle of the Books.” This event, which is coordinated by the WSWHE BOCES School Library System, was held at SUNY Adirondack.

Who will build it? This is a question area construction and skilled trades people have been asking for years as the skills gap grows in the Capital Region and nationally.


On March 3, 2023, the Capital Region Workforce Development Coalition, in partnership with WSWHE BOCES and the New York State School Counselor Association (NYSSCA) gathered over 75 school counselors from area school districts to discuss non traditional post secondary pathways in the trades and how collectively they can provide more opportunities to students.

The mission of the WSWHE BOCES W.I.D.E (Wellness, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity) Initiative is to provide accessible education programs and services that accelerate social, emotional, & academic achievement while boosting career mobility & enhancing well-being for diverse communities.

February 13, 2023 – Women have to see it to be it. The WSWHE BOCES Women In Trades Initiative is focused on narrowing the skills gap and encouraging young women to enter the trades, in particular traditionally male dominated fields such as automotive technology, auto body repair, construction trades, environmental conservation & forestry, heavy equipment operation, HVAC-R, industrial and performance machining, power sports technology and welding.

Former Harlem Globetrotter, Tay “Firefly” Fisher Presents Motivational Assembly to WSWHE BOCES Exceptional Learners Students

January 20, 2023 - WSWHE BOCES administrators and board members; chief school officers from 31 school districts along with their board presidents; elected officials including Ashby, Stec, Simpson, Smullen, Tedisco, Woerner, Walsh; and business leaders gathered virtually for the 2023 Legislative Breakfast.

At the December 14, 2022 WSWHE BOCES Board of Education meeting, Maribeth Macica and Dawn Neville were each awarded a Staff Spotlight Award.

December 15, 2022 – The Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex Board of Cooperative Educational Services (WSWHE BOCES) today announces a new name and direction for its Career and Technical Education (CTE) Machine Tool Technology program.

WSWHE BOCES is committed to providing students and staff a safe learning environment. In an effort to proactively respond to potential threats within our school community, we have adopted the anonymous reporting application, STOPit.

Grateful to the Gene Haas Foundation for awarding the ETA Machine Tool Technology program a grant to assist with student tuition and program needs.
