The Southern Adirondack Education Center (SAEC) inducted 80 members to the National Technical Honor Society on May 3, 2022 at Hudson Falls High School.

Skilled workers are in short supply, and college tuition is rising. However, the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) division is preparing tomorrow’s skilled workforce today, many receiving awards.

WSWHE BOCES CTE students and the Early College Career Academy (ECCA), a partnership with SUNY Adirondack, participated in the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Championships from April 27 to 29, 2022 in Syracuse, NY at the NYS Fairgrounds.

James P. Dexter, District Superintendent of Schools for the WSWHE BOCES, was honored with the National School Development (NSDC) Cooperative Leadership Award on April 13th, at the CASDA Annual Awards Dinner held at Franklin Terrace in Troy, New York. This annual award is given to recognize outstanding leadership within NSDC member study councils or on their behalf, including exemplary efforts to establish cooperative relationships with other educational agencies or study councils in the course of creating educational programs for the nation’s schools.

On March 30, 2022, Employment Training for Adults (ETA), hosted a Women in Trades Expo at the WSWHE BOCES Conference Center in Wilton. The event successfully brought together local employers, industry partners, and women interested in learning about new pathways and opportunities.

Beverly L. Ouderkirk who was appointed to the New York State Board of Regents on March 10, 2015 for a five-year term effective April 1, 2015, passed away on March 23.

More than 100 Career and Technical Education students from both the F. Donald Myers and Southern Adirondack Education Centers at WSWHE BOCES participated in dozens of competitions at the Regional SkillsUSA Competition on March 16, 2022.

Join Employment Training for Adults for their Women in Trades Expo on March 30, 2022 at the WSWHE BOCES Ballard Conference Center in Wilton, NY.

March is International Women's Month and we are celebrating Women in the Trades. Throughout the month, WSWHE BOCES, CTE and ETA will be highlighting current and past students, instructors and colleagues in the Trades.

On March 14 and March 16, more than 430 students on 55 teams from 16 local school districts competed in the 2022 “Battle of the Books.”

On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, nearly 40 female students from seventh to night grade were in attendance for a Women in Trades event at the SUNY Adirondack Queensbury Campus hosted by the Early College Career Academy (ECCA).
